Mission statement

The Lecturers' Caucus of the United Campus Workers- Communications Workers of America (UCW-CWA) is working to increase lecturers' power, professional role, and respect in their academic departments. We believe this is possible only if we participate in the systems and structures by which we are evaluated and compensated. Therefore, we demand evaluation by appropriate and open criteria, with opportunities and resources for professional development. We need fair pay, working conditions, and benefits commensurate with our advanced training, skills, and invaluable services to our departments and to the students of UT. We believe that state law must be changed to attain collective bargaining rights and that fair conditions of employment for lecturers as well as all other UT employees can be obtained through active coalitions with other groups of campus workers in the United Campus Workers-Communications Workers of America labor union.
